3S-GTE USDM Turbo Engine, hesitation, timing, replaced, fixed, belt, turbo, yeah, case

Hey everyone, So I just bought my first car, a 93 Mr2 turbo. Noticed on my drive home that accelerating wot will cause the car to hesitate and jerk. Cruising and gradual acceleration seem fine. No cel yet, but I havent driven it long enough for it to appear if it was cleared before I purchased it. Going to get it inspected tomorrow. Has anyone heard of or had similar issues? Am I in for a hefty repair bill or in for a new engine, or is it a minor problem?
