- I bought a new 91 MR2. When it was Carfaxed, it stated 2.2L meaning it was 5SFE as stock. But the owner said the previous owner changed the engine (i was told it was a used engine). Is there a distinctive way to check what kind of engine it has currently? if its a 5SFE, 3SGE, gen 1 2 or 3?
