3k rpm going 60 and in 5th gear [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

I hit the highway today to see how the car runs on high speed. I got on and i noticed i was going 60 in my 4th gear and y rpms were 3100 so i shifted to 5th and the rpms only went down to 3000. is this normal? i mean it has a good amount of passing power on 5th gear but the motor is always flying.. doesnt that waste mad gas?
