Problems with mr2: Clutch? [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

The problem i have with my mr2 is ... the clutch will engage but when i hit the gas it revs high, as if the clutch isnt engaged at all. i ended up being in 5th gear at 25 mph. any suggestions on what this could be? also, a wierd smell comes from the engine bay, similar to burnt oil.
