Strange sound [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

Im driving down the road to day and I notice a loud tick that occurs when I let go of the throttle but its still in gear ( like letting the car slow down on its own) soooo I lift the front and I dont see anything wrong, I spin the wheels and nothing.... So I lift the back and spin the wheels and still nothing wrong..... But then I go move the axle (driverside) and it has play where it meets the transmission.... Does this mean I need a new axle or a new Tranny?
