Rack and pinion compatibility between MKII years? [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

I lifted up my 1991 MR2 and when I turn the wheels by hand, the rack and pinion is rough, and not consistent. Also my steering wheel is not straight. I recently got in a fender bender and hit my right front wheel into my friends front wheel :undecided so the wheel is pushed about 1/2 inch towards the rear of the car. I was thinking about replacing the rack and pinion, and I have access to a 1993 rack and pinion. Are they compatible? Or what should I do? Thanks
