valve cover questions [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

i plan on painting my valve cover this weekend and am wondering if i can get away with using sealant (gasket maker) instead of a gasket from toyota. Main reason is that I dont have a car on the road nor do i feel like waiting 3 days for toyota and then having to find a way to get to the dealer which is 30 minutes away will i have leaks from this or have any of you tried this with positive results?
