3S-GTE JDM 2nd Gen Turbo Engine, seal, shaft, transmission, removing, e153, control, shift, select, safely, inside, lever, replace, sits, 3sgte, housing, 1990

I am trying to replace my oil seal that sits in the shift and select lever (control shaft) housing of the e153 transmission for a 3sgte mr2 1990. How do I go about safely removing the seal - like would I tap out the seal from the inside of the transmission after removing the shift and select shaft?
