Weirdest mr2 part failure ive seen [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

so im halfway through doing the big end bearings on my mr2 go to torque up one of the rods and at only about 15ft/lbs the rod bolt went PING punched it out and found the small flat head had broken off but based on oil staining it appears its been holding on by an area abotu 1mm by 2 mm for a number of years http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad338/mr_jas/rodbolt.jpg i wasnt aware these bolts were a replacement item, it may foil my plans for doing the bearings with the rods in place.
