SUMMARY: folks are looking for upgrade options for MR2 MKII alternators.
My approach: picked up a cheap ($108) new 130 amp Denso alternator mentioned in the link above. These are used in some Dodge Caravans. Surprisingly, it actually put out 179 amps according to the test sheet, at 13.2 volts.
