5S-FE MK2 Non-Turbo Engine, fuel, timing, including, repeated, sputters, backfires, steps, injectors, drive, waiting, cure, suggest, thought, frustating, btdc, step, modulator, vacuum, cold, start, injector, replaced, rich, 5sfe, 1991, idles, smells, great, sets, problem, stumped, wires, distributor, plugs, rotor, pressure, filter, load

have a 1991 5sfe that idles great but smells very rich. I have replaced the egr vacuum modulator, cold start injector, 3 sets of plugs, the distributor, cap and rotor, fuel filter, fuel pressure vsv, wires. The problem is when you step on the gas under load it wants to die. it sputters and sometimes backfires. I have repeated many steps including the timing which is right on 10
