- I wanted to make an adjustable rear sway bar by welding on a plate that had several holes which could be used to adjust the length of the arms. I just want my rear sway bar to be a little stiffer than stock to reduce the understeer. I made some plates and tack welded them to a stock bar. I raised the holes too, to compensate for the geometry change that you get when lowering the car. But then I started thinking about the hardness and heat treat of the sway bar. Is it OK to TIG weld a sway bar?
