beams hot cold side coolant lines?

i noticed on older 5sfe that the fan switch sensor is on the side near the cam belt, thermostat housing. on the beams the cam belt side feels cold, i was holding the coolant lines and the one that felt hot was the hose between the engine and transmission side. if i were to rig somthing for my fan switch would i wanna splice into this line on the beams 3sge vs the hose near the cam belt?
