Question about pulling codes.

Okay, I know I need to jump the connectors in the DLC, but I have two questions. 1. Is there a second DLC connector in the cabin? & 2. My CEL came on while driving, while just cruising at 50 MPH in 5th gear. No changes to driving or performance were felt. So, eventually, I turned the car off and coasted, then compresion started it to see if the light would go off, and it did. Is the code stored in the ECU? If I were to jump the pins could I recover that code? I
